10:08 pm - Happy new y-...whuaaahh?
So, hey there all you live journalists, it's been a while hasn't it?
I just figured I'd drop a "Probably last ever" message in here to formally say goodbye to this place; also, to leave a few links to where people will be able to find me if they are so inclined to remain in contact with me.

I'm not ever planning on deleting this journal though, I'm not so dramatic to do that. History is history, and while I may not be proud of everything in my past (particularly the amount of angsty whining to my name -- I just needed a place to vent, I guess?), I certainly don't want to forget any of it either. While I may have done my fair share of bellyacheing, I still consider those times generally more carefree as they are now, even if I may not have seen it that way at the time.
Long story short, I still miss my mother daily -- and yes, even my grandmother, who has been the aim of a rather unfair share of complaints throughout the majority of this very journal, still has a fond place remaining in my heart as well.

So how's life been treating me in the past few years?
Well, there's been ups and downs as is to be expected, but on the whole I would say things have been going rather nicely.
I've been living on my own now, trying to manage things as best I can. I've been in a steady relationship for almost 5 years, with a lovely girl who lives in England; and yes, that makes it a long-distance relationship -- but at least England is fairly manageable to periodically travel to from here, plus we talk over Skype practically daily.
Is it difficult to maintain a relationship like this? Well, I'm not gonna lie -- it is. But we do love each other, and have seen each other "for real" a few times now, and yes, plans are slowly shaping up for me to move into a larger place over here so we'll be able to live together eventually.

Friendship wise, some new people have moved into my life who I consider some of my best buddies, others have grown more into the background, some became vague acquaintances, and even then some I lost contact with altogether.

While I may not be the best at putting effort into maintaining my contacts, and actually almost make a point of it to remain on the reclusive side on any and all "Instant Message" services, I actually appreciate - and much more prefer - contact from people through "Non-Instant" alternatives where I can think my messages through a lot better before replying.
I'm still very much a shy and awkward human being all things considered, and get scatterbrained easily when "juggling" many conversations at once (of which there will always be at least one going with my girlfriend, as one can imagine).

That said, places where one can find me are as follows!

  • Facebook, at http://www.facebook.com/hhoguera (drop a message along with any friend requests so I know who you are!)

  • deviantArt, at http://hhog.deviantart.com

  • http://www.soniceatsrings.com, the semi-unofficial successor of what was once the Moogle Cavern (I don't visit the place as often as I once did, but I'm still reachable here on occasion)

  • Through email, coldflamehhog on gmail dot com

  • I also seem to be hanging around on Tumblr from time to time as of late, at http://hhoguera.tumblr.com/

  • I barely use twitter, but if you must use it to contact me, it's @hhoguera.

  • HHoguera#3786 on Discord. I honestly don't pay much attention to it, but it's there, I suppose.

Also, gaming-wise;Well, have a happy new year, everyone -- I may still check back here on occasion (like once every few years or so, hahaha~), but don't expect me to update this thing anymore, aside from edits to this particular post to keep track of where I am to be found.

9:05 pm - So, here I am, again...!
Wow, took me long enough to get back here, huh? I've only just now really been feeling decent enough to write a bit of a text-wall again.

I guess ever since life's been dealing me a string of bad hands, I hadn't really been in the mood to come here for a while. I mean, after losing my mom, one of my cats, my favourite comic store and having to move out of the place I've lived at for the last 7 years, subsequently losing the Moogle Cavern, my favourite internet hangout soon after all of that was pretty much the straw that broke the camel's back, there.
As far as Internet-matters were concerned, anyway. I mean, for the majority of my "E-life", the MC has played the greatest part in my online interaction with people, by far.
Oh, of course the community's still together for the most part, and we've managed to get ourselves out of a rut we were never really able to climb out of back when we were still the MC, but back then it was a pretty devastating blow, y'know?
But enough about that. People'd almost think I was incapable of talking about anything else for the last few years (and they were often right).

Frankly, I'm incredibly surprised at myself, staying so relatively stable-minded despite everything. Even though my aunt's worried I might be repressing my feelings, I... I don't know. Maybe I never had the chance to really sit down and cope with everything, since by the time one thing settled down, something else came up for me to worry about.
Who knows, maybe I have snapped, and I just don't know it yet. c_c

Then again, remembering how much my family and friends, let alone my mom's friends and collegues practically smothered me with care, sympathy and attention, that might've made a whole lot better.
I mean, on one hand I feel I might not have let it show enough how much of an impact everything has made on me, but on the other hand, there's way too much responsibilities for me to keep my mind occupied with, y'know?
Aside from that, there's still the little matter of a personal life I don't want to neglect (but am often in the progress of doing at times, regardless).

My friends have been dragging me along to practically everywhere for the past few months. Bars, clubs, general downtown loitering, that sorta stuff. While those are certainly among the things people my age generally keep themselves occupied with, I have to admit I was never that outgoing before my mom passed on. It leaves me wondering why I only started doing this kind of stuff now.
Was I holding myself back, being afraid about worrying mom? Or perhaps I subconsciously used my mom as some sort of excuse not to head out so I could just stay safe at home browsing the web every night? My friends always said she was pretty strict with the times I was supposed to be home at, whereas I personally found it quite reasonable.
But then again, of course there also was the matter of my responsibilities I had towards the care of my grandmother, who, if I may remind everyone, has been living in with my mom and I for almost 6 years, and required practically constant care.
...Ah. Here come the waterworks. About time.

...Heh. Maybe I was right earlier. Maybe I've finally reached the point where I'm not afraid to live my own life anymore.
There's still a lot of matters to take care of, and I feel I might've been slacking off a bit in that regard (so what else is new?), but I'm still young.  I might have other things in life I want to pursue, as well.
And maybe my mom didn't exactly leave me in the most ideal of situations, but I hope I'm managing myself well enough despite everything.
Perhaps better then a guy in my situation normally would. As much as that bugs me, I suppose I should be grateful that I'm not hunched together in the fetal position, shivering in a dark corner or something like that.

I'll be okay, eventually.
I owe my mom that much, after all she gave me so I could live a decent life, the least I can do to repay the favour is to enjoy it.

10:03 pm - Happy Holidays, everyone.

As much as I'd love to reply to everyone personally in my last entry (I remember you all too, Phoenix Wright and Ayreon both kick ass muchly, and I appreciate the sympathy with regards to my mother), I shouldn't be taking too long to write this.
You see, apart from my short outings at the MC with Mobile Internet via my phone, I haven't had much opportunity to use the Internet this past week. I've moved to a new place now, and while I'm having enough fun redecorating the place, reading my old comics, playing games and listening to music, I haven't yet been supplied with internet, or even basic television, for that matter. So the phone is all I got right now.
Well, not right now, as I'm posting this with my mom's old computer in a half-empty house I used to live in.
But I don't think I'll be able to get proper internet or TV at my new place until after the hoilidays, 'cause apart from the fact that most provider offices are closed during this time, I'm way too busy to even bother with the 'net in the first place. And the fun part is, I'm not even really missing it all too much, either. I mean sure, it takes a bit long with the dinky mobile internet to look up the latest Smash Bros update or check my email, but for the moment, I think that'll be all I really need to do anyway.

But even so... I'll probably keep mom's old computer hooked up in the old house anyway, so I can check back at some places every so often (so far I've been coming back here every day to sort old stuff out) until I get my proper connection at my new place. I'll check back with you folks at Livejournal once that happens, so until then, happy holidays and see you all again next year! =D

11:55 am - *quietly peeks around the corner*
*stealthily attempts posting*

Man. Have I ever been out of the loop at this place. It's been a new record; two years and 4 months without a journal entry!
So.... For those of you whom I haven't talked to as of late; heya. =D

Let's see.... An update as to what I've been up to since last time. Let's start with the worst, then gradually move up to better news.

First off, some of you might not have heard this, but my mother passed away last September.
After a few weeks of slow decline in her health, caused among others by anemia, she passed on at the age of 44.
Since then I've been slowly trying to piece my life back together again, with help from my remaining family and friends.

Last week, my cat Cedi went and joined her, he had a heart disease and pulmonary edema. He's been keeping himself strong for a long time, but eventually he overexerted himself at some point, and came home breathing heavily. After a struggle to keep him breathing, we eventually decided he had to be put down.

If all that wasn't enough, I'm moving to a new place soon, since this house is too big and expensive to manage and afford on my own.
My new place isn't big, but I guess I'll manage. I just picked up the key yesterday, so later today I'm gonna start moving stuff over there (it's a fairly short walk from where I live now).

A few weeks ago, my family and I finally cleaned out the storage boxes that still held the content of mom and my home from the first time we got "removed" from our house, almost 10 years ago.
It was great seeing so much of my old stuff again, which makes it extra painful having to decide what I can and can't take along to my new place, and what should be tossed out. But I think I'm finally somewhat through everything, save from a few VCR tapes I still want to check to see if I taped any old Dutch episodes of the Sonic cartoon on 'em. XD
(What. It's youth sentiment. And trust me, there are no Dutch dubbed Sonic episodes anywhere on the Internet. I checked.)

In better and more recent news, my aunt took me to Ikea last Wednesday to choose some new furniture for my home; a Bed/Couch combo and a coffee table. My cousin's gonna pick it up tomorrow, and help me put it together at my new place. =)

Now, as for totally unrelated news.... Let's do what I always do and plug my comic!
*The entirety of Livejournal collectively facepalms*
No wait, wait... It's not like that. See, it moved to a new place. Kulock shut down the Hoax and Comic Archive, and The Horror had to find a new home. Now I COULD have put them on my website, after all, that's what those things are normally for. However, I kinda liked the MC archive's ability for people to individually comment on every comic.
So I went the tedious way and uploaded the whole lot of 'em on DeviantArt.
I haven't a clue what the heck I'm gonna do with my hoaxes. Maybe I'll put those on my site after all.

SO! How about those Smash Bros. updates, huh? Man, that Sakurai. What a card.

Oh yeah, and now for my fanboy moment.... *takes a deep breath*
Whew. Had to get that out, heh. Uhm, yeah. I'm a big Ayreon fan, and by sheer coincidence (clicking an Amazon.com link via Newgrounds) I noticed that their new album "01011001" has been announced. I pre-ordered it already, eheheh... XD
I normally don't preorder ANYTHING, but I have to admit... I can't wait 'till it's arrived!

Oh, and in final news... I'm sorry, Livejournal. I'm cheating on you with Blogspot!
But don't worry, I'm not gonna abandon this place in favour of it.
Redundant my blogspot account may be, I... opened it on a whim because it came easily with my Gmail account. Aheheh.
I don't know what I'm gonna do with it, but who knows... it might serve some purpose someday.
Knowing me I wouldn't count on it too much, but yeah.

Uhhhmmmm..... I guess that's about it for now! My apologies for abandoning this place for so long, I'll try my best to catch up on stuff you all have been up to once I'm good and settled at my new place, and maybe then we can all just sit down and chat with eachother again for old time's sake. =D
In the mean time, I've went and dug through my friends list and added some extra people who my friends have friended and turn out to know myself, too. XD Surprise!

10:39 pm - Daaah, here's H Hog and his bi-yearly update. Huzzah!
No, nono, I'm not dead! See? I'm posting! Look at me posting! Haha!
... *cough*
OK, anyway.

First off! Hi, how've you all been, love you all, etcetera.

Next up....
I say it time and time again, people. Gimme a shout if you add me to your friendslist! *eyes Andrusi, Keith Stack, Sestren and Persona in particular*
Even a comment on my latest journal entry will do! =P

Now, other things of relevance...
SAGE (Sonic Amateur Gaming Expo) has come and went since last update - Alex Kidd went over moderately well, but I really ought to get off my arse and do something with that game before I bin it out of sheer frustration.

Stuff concerning the "International Moron Patrol" has slowly started picking up again.
Roger's still making movies, the backlog of unfinished episodes that still needed voices is steadily shrinking, and all is well in the world.

I really should try and get back into contact more with some of my friends whom I don't really see much anymore outside of this place.
*pokes the likes of Sestren, Troppy, Rick, Diddlypuff and Aeromancy, among others*

In other news, I'd love to plug my comic "The Horror" again, except that the Moogle Cavern's main site's been bandwidth'nated because of Blaze Hedgehog's astounding succes with his fangame, Super Mario Blue Twilight DX (a.k.a. "Marioween").
The download of which was a bit too much for Kulock's poor server to take. XD;;

Yeah, it's awesome that the guy's game is so popular, and he sure as heck deserves the credit - but now I'm without a comiiiiiic... ;_;
Ohwell, no hard feelings or anything, it'll be back by the start of next month, anyway. XD;;
In the meantime, props to Blaze, and go play Marioween. It's worth it, and you gotta have SOMETHING to do if you're not reading my comic. ;D *promptly jumped on*

Hmph. Seems I ran outta stuff to talk about. And I was on a roll, too.
Well, seeya next update.... sometime early 2006, maybe? XDDDD

Dahahahaaa, holy crap, this took me long enough to update... XD;;
I suppose that since I've become a member at DeviantArt, which ALSO has a journal function AS WELL as a free uploadable art archive, I never felt much use for this little journal thingie anymore. ^_^;;

Soooorry, peoples.
Can't deny though, that with my job, DeviantArt, Moogle Cavern, and my own site to worry about, not much time is gonna be left to check this place.
I suggest that if you HAVE a Deviantart account, you let me know so I can watch you. =)

So, what kind of holy crap happened in the time I was gone?
Time for a quick recap.

- My "The Horror" comic archive has pretty much doubled since being on the MC Hoaxes and Comics archive.
- Plenty of new IMP episodes.
- Got a DS. Current games are Mario 64 DS and Polarium.
- Couple of new games for Gamecube, including Viewtiful Joe 2, Star Fox Assault, Conflict: Desert Storm, and WarioWare.
- Plenty of weird crap going on at MoogleMB - Long story short, we're on another temporary emergency forum.
- My Grundig job has ended, and am thusly back to working at Data Entry.

So yeah, that's about it over here. Aheheh.

11:59 pm - "Bring it. >=D "
Hehe. Last night was fun.
I had an epic RP Battle with Cinossu, and to a certain extent, Teila.
ZZT was there for spectatorness.
What about? Meh... I'll spill the beans later on, once I've finished compiling the transscript and turning it into a readable fic instead of an IRC script log.
't was fun though, even though I ended up forfeiting the battle when I realized the error of my ways. (I was the "evil" one, yeah. Kefka-fied. >=D )

Well, I know it's been a while since I've been checking out my LJ, and I've undoubtedly missed a lot, but since I have to work tomorrow, I can't catch up right away. ^_^;
Lemme know if I missed anything important 'n stuff.

9:21 pm - Yar.
Mueh, again I find myself not updating this for a while.

Stuff that happened in the recent past:

-Got into playing YuGiOh. It's more fun then I thought it'd be.
Even got into a little tournament thingy with a friend of mine. We didn't classify all that high, but it was fun nonetheless. Yayness.

-Made a new friend, his name is Tristan.
He likes to play YuGiOh, Mario Kart, Worms and Melee.
And he's freaking good at all of the above. Ye gods.

-For the first time in my life, I went to the airport.
The airport in my own freaking city, and it's the first time I actually went there. XD
Anyway, I went there to meet this guy I know from the Dominic Deegan forums, by the name of Seth Jeffery.
He makes kickass music, and since he was going to the Netherlands already anyway, I went to buy a CD off him. =D
It's good.

-Also, I reccomend clicking that link above and start reading Dominic Deegan. It's one of the best webcomics I know.

-Got into playing the Shining Force remake for the GBA.
If you've played Shining Force before, you'll probably like this better (for nostalgia purposes) then if you haven't.
For those that never played Shining Force, it's comparable to Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, except for the fact that Shining Force has a bigger RPG element in it, actually visiting towns and finding your troops to recruit, instead of waddling across an overworld map and obtain allies with randomly generated names.
Don't worry, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. I still like you, too.

9:34 pm - DEWD I'M GETTING A DELL!!!!111!
I've just ordered a new computer since this one's pissing me off so much.
I got an extra "vacation bonus" with my salary, but since I'm not going on vacation anytime soon, I'm gonna spend it all on a new computer.

So anyway, it's a Dell computer, Pentium IV, 80 Gig HD, and I'm getting a Printer/Scanner combo with it for free. ^_^
Now to wait 8 to 10 days for delivery.

I saved some expenses by not ordering a monitor (my old one works just allright), and lowering the warranty from 3 years to 1 year.
It cost me my entire month sallary, so no Gamecube games for me this month. ;P

Other noteworthy stuff:

-Moogle Cavern site reopened. Crowd causes uproar.

-IMP episode 17 is online, special appearance by Kulock, Nate Netfox and N Hof.

-Sonic X started yesterday in the Netherlands. As I feared, Dutch dubbed. Most voices are decent, though I'd have rather seen it English. In proud Sonic voice acting fashion, they've managed to screw up Tails horribly. He sounds like a gnome or something. >_<

-I've finally played and cleared "Day of the Tentacle". The game is AWESOME. =D

...That'll probably be it, I suppose.

11:11 pm - Potato! ARRRR!
Yay, dug up more Megadrive games.

Mickey mouse game. Much less fun then the "Illusion" series of games.
May sell it off to a 2nd hand store or something.

-Jewel Master
Actually borrowed this from a friend once, whom I've never seen since I left school.
It's a surprisingly fun platformer with this dude who has rings of the 4 elements and you use and combine them to attack and stuff.

-Balloon Boy/Funny World
Unlicensed cart I bought at a marketplace once.
Ballloon Boy is some sort of Space Invaders-esque thing but instead of the balloons dropping down there's a timelimit.
Funny World is sort of a Duck Hunt thing, but the targets only run from left to right and you control sort of a "gun turret" to shoot them.
Surprisingly bad.

-Rolling Thunder 2
Platform/Shooter game. Think James Bond or something.
Or for NES enthusiasts, Lupin III.

-Comix Zone
Single-player platform fighting game which takes place on the pages of a comic book.
Highly recommended.

-Splatterhouse 2
Horror-themed platform fighting game.
Beat large creeps with exploding stomachs using a lead pipe, hack into acid-barfing hanging zombie babies using a chainsaw, and kick endless zombie butt. Messy.

-Devil Crash
Surprisingly good Satanist-themed Pinball game with 1 main table and 6 bonus stages.
It's actually Japanese, but I modified the cartridge with a Stanleyknife and a rough file to make it fit in my European Megadrive. XD

If anyone was interested in the stuff I salvaged, now you know, and knowing is half the battle.
Rolling Thunder and Splatterhouse are actually borrowed from a friend, though.
But I've got some of my own games back from him too, so yeah.

I've also bought a GC Action Replay, finally.
Does anyone know of a way that I can "convert" American AR codes to use on PAL/European games?
Since I've got some American SA2:B codes I've been itching to try out. ;D
Much appreciated if anyone can find this.

I'm back, for the Nth time. XD

Recap of the past month:

I've been coping with my grandmother's loss, I'm pretty much all coped by now.
It's good. Again, thank you all for your support during the tough times, it helped me a lot.

-My mom went to a lawyer, and since my grandmother didn't willingly "leave" the house, we get to keep it. =D

-Dug up my Sega Megadrive.
Building my game library back up, currently I've reposessed Animaniacs, Sword of Vermillion, Sonic 3D, Zombies, and Wonderboy. (Woohoo!)

-Roger, the main man of the International Moron Patrol, has visited my place almost two weeks ago, and plans to do so again wednesday.
He's a cool guy. =D

-Been getting into the Yu-Gi-Oh card game.
Surprisingly, it's more fun then I initially thought it'd be.

-I've moved to a sub-division of my job's location; I can now officially say that I'm a member of Grundig Audio Electronics' service department.
In a nutshell: People send back discmans, DVD players, and stereosets to have them repaired in their guarantee,
I check if they still work properly, if not I replace them, if so they're sent back. =P

-I'm having pie at the moment. =)

-Saw "Van Helsing" last week. I liked it.

-"The Horror" had a guest artist festival. Go check it out. =D

I think thats about all. Now to finish that pie.

10:35 am - And thus ends a chapter in H Hog's book of hardship and tough times.
This morning, 8:30 AM CET, my grandmother has passed away.
It was a difficult time for us all these past 4 years, and even though I was often tired, annoyed and lacking in patience to maintain a diabetic senior-citizen, I've done my best to make her last few years as comfortable as possible.
She went peacefully while sleeping, I was there while it happened.
I'm satisfied with the way it happened. The only thing she really didn't want was to be at a lack of breath while dying.
The doctor was safely able to confirm this.

...Well, that's it, then.
I'm at peace, I can only hope that she is, as well.

8:56 pm - Meh, I've found myself a "least favourite level" in Sonic Heroes.
Bullet Station is STUPIDLY annoying. o_@
And godawfully long, too.
It's also full of cheap pit deaths. I must have died three times because I simply fell down at the Huge cannon sequence, before I finally saved myself from falling a fourth time by switching to Fly formation. I swear the thing lands me under the rail I'm supposed to hit. >_<
